about

Luke Lund returns with the first release of 2016, the album "Polaris" - 40 minutes of grim improvised guitar soundscapes and frigid field recordings inspired by the merciless but fragile environment within the polar circles...

Picture the relentless nature under the veil of half-year nights, vast white barrens, the earth-grinding force of glaciers, hidden lands under thousands of meters of ice... A sad reminder that it's ceaselessly decaying at an accelerating rate. Polaris is dedicated to the life surviving on its mercy in ultimate isolation.

"If Geir Jenssen’s 1997 Biosphere album ‘Substrata’ gave us a sense of the divine, unparalleled beauty and stillness of the Arctic, then ‘Polaris’ is its counterpoint – the soundtrack of a terrifying and terrified land desperately holding onto its identity."

All 10 tracks are field recordings mixed with improvised guitar home studio recordings with stainless steel picks or E-Bow.
